GIZ Office Kazakhstan would like to announce a new vacant position in the capacity of Junior technical professional in the Regional Programme on Sustainable and Climate Sensitive Land Use for Economic Development in Central Asia (SLU CA).

Duty station: Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

Application Deadline: 05.08.2019


  • coordinating the components of the «Regional Programme on Sustainable and Climate Sensitive Land Use for Economic Development in Central Asia» in Kazakhstan in accordance with the Programme goals and activities agreed upon with the national partner;
  • ensuring cooperation with the Programme partners, including national authorities, development partners, SCO, and enabling effective flow of communication and information;
  • advising on technical and capacity development approach of the Programme in Kazakhstan;
  • supporting the Programme input to capacity development and strengthening core competencies of partners;
  • preparation and documentation of practical experiences and learning processes linked to Integrative Land Use Management Approaches;
  • implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to the Programme goals and activities;
  • providing technical assistance to the Country Coordinator/ Programme experts;
  • supervising delivery of services by third parties in the course of carrying out Programme activities;
  • assist in Programme operational planning budget in consultation with the officers responsible for financial management;
  • regular reporting to the Country Coordinator on the progress and quality of the Programme activities in the country.

Required qualifications, competences and experience:

  • university degree in Forest Management, Agriculture, Climate Change Policy, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Economics, or similar;
  • minimum 3 years of work experience related to aspects of sustainable management of natural resources, forest management, climate policy, sustainable development, or similar;
  • experience of working with government institutions on policy related issues would be an asset;

good knowledge of land use topic in general and current trends in Kazakhstan and the Central Asia;

  • ability to interpret context, identify needed actions and work unsupervised;
  • strong organizational competence;
  • good monitoring, reporting and communication skills;
  • working experience within GIZ or a similar international cooperation and development agencies would be an asset;
  • fluency in oral and written English and Russian. Knowledge of German, Kazakh languages would be an asset;
  • good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email and internet) and good command of MS Office package.
