Financial Controller / Operator

Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems Kazakhstan is seeking an experienced Controller/Operator to join our team in Astana. This role involves overseeing financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes, supporting financial decision-making and strategy in a dynamic, multinational environment. The Controller/Operator will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial compliance in alignment with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Chief Accountant in overseeing daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, cash flow management, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
• Utilize data from the local ERP (1C), primary fiscal and shipment documents, and actual financial results to prepare and upload monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to corporate systems (such as General Management Reporting, Enterprise Planning and Business Consolidation System, Effective Tax Rate, Wave, etc.). These reports will include Budget, Outlook, Forecast, and Actuals, and must be prepared and submitted in alignment with the corporate reporting schedule.
• Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analyses, comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts, identifying the root causes of variances, and providing actionable recommendations for improvement and making the necessary corrections in the reporting system, as necessary.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor and analyze costs, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and support cost-saving initiatives across the organization.
• Collaborate closely with operations, sales, logistics, vendors, and customers to provide financial insights, ensure controls, and meet reporting requirements.

Core Competencies:

• Extensive knowledge of local GAAP, IFRS, and Kazakhstan’s regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights to management.
• Proficiency with 1C and SAP ERP systems for comprehensive financial reporting, consolidation, and variance analysis.
• Expertise in cost accounting and budget management, with a focus on identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
• In-depth knowledge of key financial performance indicators critical to P&L and management reporting, including metrics that drive profitability, efficiency, and financial health.
• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high accuracy in the preparation and analysis of financial reports and budgets.

Additional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in financial control, budgeting, and analysis.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or local equivalent) is preferred.
• Proficiency in English (B2 level or higher) for effective communication with international teams.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
