Java Developer (Kotlin)

The IT company Andersen invites an experienced Java Developer (Kotlin) to work on a large-scale project in the field of Computer Games.

The customer is a leader in the development and publishing of online games with a global presence, it strives to create legendary games with passion and professionalism. The company supports social responsibility and sustainable development, shares its professional expertise, and participates in major industry events worldwide, working for the benefit of its clients and society.

The project involves the development of a computer game, focusing on creating new designs and expansions.

Technological stack on the project: Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, WebSockets, gRPC, Kubernetes, Docker, TeamCity, ArgoCD.

Responsibilities:

• Developing features and maintenance of existing services for production release.
• Working on technical debt resolution and participating in refactoring.
• Collaborating with a multicultural team, working in the UK time zone.
• Possible integration with game-specific systems (e.g., Agones).

Must-haves:

• Experience as a Java Developer for 6+ years.
• Experience as a Kotlin Developer for 2+ years.
• Experience in developing microservice architecture using an event-driven approach (Kafka is mandatory, RabbitMQ is a bonus).
• Knowledge of Spring Boot, including customization.
• Ability to work with databases RDBMS (PostgreSQL), NoSQL (MongoDB — planned for future implementation).
• Experience with WebSockets and gRPC.
• Ability to design and develop scalable real-time systems.
• Experience with TDD methodology.
• Experience writing automated tests.
• Understanding of Kubernetes principles.
• Knowledge of Docker and experience with containerization systems.
• Basic knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools (TeamCity, ArgoCD or similar).
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.

Nice-to-haves:

• Basic knowledge of Scala or other JVM languages.
