Since 2005 Wärtsilä has delivered seven power plants to Azerbaijan, with a total output of 860 MW. All power plants are operated by a state owned utility company. During 2005-2007 Wärtsilä supplied 52 Wärtsilä 20V34SG (20-cylinder,V-type, 34sm-dia cylinder bore, single gas fuel) engines. In 2007 Wärtsilä was granted an EPC contract and delivery of a 300 MW power plant based on Wärtsilä 18V50DF (18-cylinder, V-type, 50cm-dia cylinder bore, DF-dual fuel) engines to Sangachal and a 104 MW plant with 12 main drive Wärtsilä 20V34SG engines in Guba to supply the Shakhdag sport complex with electricity.

In addition Wärtsilä holds the leading position in medium speed 4-stroke engine technology as well as a strong position in the solutions for the power generation and propulsion solutions for special vessels as ice breakers, salvage vessels, tugs, offshore and special vessels.
